Back in 2014 I got my first Wacom tablet and couldn’t stop drawing. I was 16 and hellbent on studying art to do it for a living. I drew fanart of Elizabeth and then decided to do it every year to track my progress. I lasted about 5 years, and then just entered burnout territory. Now, 10 years later, I finally managed to redraw her again. It’s kinda wild - it took about 12 hours, went through a bunch of changes, and I’m still not entirely happy for the result. But when I put the old versions in a row it really had an effect. I’m not where I wanted to be as an artist - mainly unsuccessful and unemployed - but I’m definitely much much better now than I was even six years ago.
Art has been a struggle, and I have somewhat switched to 3D character art (that I’m very excited to show in the future). But painting occupies such a big part of my person, that I’m forever stuck yearning for it and never feeling like I’m quite enough.
Maybe someday.
